I agree, there was no altercation! Who's to say Boris and Amare weren't rushing to Steve Nash's side to make sure he was alright?! That's not aggressive, that's empathetic!

'Altercation' implies that guys were throwing limbs at one another. The only guy throwing any sort of limb was Horry.

Also, the league should look at the timing of Amare's and Boris's departure from the bench. If it happened BEFORE Horry threw the elbow at Bell, then there's NO way they should be punished for it. Up until that point, there WAS no altercation... just a player lying on the court and another player sauntering away.

Again, I wouldn't call the later dust-up an altercation, but even if it is ruled as such, any action prior to it should not be punishable. They would have had to leave the bench 'DURING' the altercation.

The clear reality is that you have TWO FLAGRANT FOULS committed against the two time mvp in two consecutive games.

If the Commish had any, he would suspend Pop for that. It looks like the Spurs have targeted Nash for injury.

once again it doesn't matter if they were involved in the altercation, intended harm, just checking on someone, etc

if there is an altercation and you leave the bench - even a little bit - you get suspended - regardless of why you left the bench

Even if you just happen to have to go to bathroom, or to locker room for additional treatment of an injury, incidentally at the same time the altercation occurs?

Nash is a warrior! He is getting bloodied and beat up this entire series, and he gets up and plays harder. I would go into battle with this man any day!

I don't think there are in-game potty breaks in the NBA, except for when Nash had diarrhea against the Lakers a couple of months ago. Doubt that would fly with the league...

They haven't even mentioned during all of the highlights and discussion on NBA TV either. ESPN also downplayed it. Perhaps it's just the TNT crew overreacting on the Spur of the moment...

No it doesnt.. It looks like Ivaroni is trying to jump over Amares back.. Look at Amares hands.. Look at Amares heels.. No ones heels would be looking like that if they were getting pulled back.. But on the flip side someones heels would look like that if they were getting shoved forward..

Amare's just standing strange because he was afraid Bowen was going to kick him again. :p

I just watched the ESPN vid. Amare leaves while Nash is on the floor and returns to the bench when the altercation begins. There was no altercation going on when Amare took a few steps away from the bench area.

Listen, there's no question the guys got up, but did they REALLY leave the bench? Or the bench area? I don't think they did.

You guys are all pretty funny.

Amare should definitely be suspended for a game...Diaw possibly not. Horry definitely so.

Horry basically traded himself for Amare...nice trade on his part.

The rule is you don't leave the freaking bench...clearly Amare left the bench and the "check in" argument is lame as hell, especially since he is NOWHERE near the scorers' table and the coaches have to physically push him back to the bench. He's gone for a game, and if he isnt', the league is total BS.

It's funny to see how some of you are looking for ways your guy can be ok even though he broke the rules..you would be HOPPING mad if it was Duncan that did that and calling for his head.

One good thing about having your team bounced in the first round is that homerism is no longer a part of your viewing of games...it's kind of refreshing. The "he was checking in" blather is homerism at its finest.

Are you kidding dude? Amare was about 4 feet into the court...the replays show it. It is CLEAR. Then the coaches drag him back to the bench (which is what Gee's pic shows).

But yeah, he was just "checking in." He always needs restrained by two or three coaches when checking in.

WHY is a Laker fan even discussing this? You're obviously biased against the Suns, so I think you should just sit this one out.

And don't be so naive. I don't think he was just "checking in". I happen to think that yes, the plan WAS for him to check in, but when Nash went flying to the boards, Amare was a man and wanted to check on his floor general and the most important man on the floor who was blatantly checked into the boards. But hey, since you don't think he's "checking in", perhaps you think he was trying to jump in and throw a punch at Horry. Or maybe he wanted to knock Horry down and stare down at him between his legs. Great logic there, and something Laker fans would know something about.

I still think they went to check on Nash, he was laying on his back and the Suns need to play that angle.

I would have been worried about him.

The rule sucks anyways.

That is absolutely right. The problem is that the media seems to be implying that Boris and Amare moved towards the "altercation" with the intention of escalating it. How is that even provable?
