My biggest issue with Wells is that it seems like we settled for him. We drafted for need, however we didn't get the speed threat that we needed. It was almost like we panicked because there wasn't a 3-4 pass rusher and Donald Brown was gone. We still are lacking a third down threat out of the backfield and we have already chosen a back.
I just don't see how Wells fits what we do on offense. If we are trying to be a more physical team and run the ball, Boldin should have been traded by now. If we want to throw the ball, Wells is a terrible pick as he needs to wear down a defense. I feel like we took the next best back on the board to fill a need and didn't consider the skill set that Wells brings.
Sorry, have to disagree - I think we were ELATED to see that this guy was still on the board and made the BPA! Gosh, how is everyone on this board not jumping up and down and smiling right now? We've got the two best receivers in football, two stellar quarterbacks and two tough, YOUNG running backs with managable contracts and a sick defense that we can spend the rest of the draft and offseason adding to in any way that we can!
I'm just going to put all of this down here so that I can look back on it a year from now: Beanie Wells
will be an impact player in his rookie year, the Arizona Cardinals
will be back in the playoffs as the champions of the NFC West, and God willing, the greatest team on the planet will bring home the Super Bowl trophy just over nine months from now! Seriously men, somebody go knock up their sweetheart and when the baby is born you can name him
Victory, because that's we've got growing in the belly of Phoenix, Arizona! I can't wait for next season - this time we're taking it to the house!
LET'S GO CARDINALS!!!
