Beanie wells makes me extremely comfortable picking the Cards to go 11-5 next year. Now we need a kick/punt returner and all defense and we're in the playoffs with a little luck!!!

My biggest issue with Wells is that it seems like we settled for him. We drafted for need, however we didn't get the speed threat that we needed. It was almost like we panicked because there wasn't a 3-4 pass rusher and Donald Brown was gone. We still are lacking a third down threat out of the backfield and we have already chosen a back.

I just don't see how Wells fits what we do on offense. If we are trying to be a more physical team and run the ball, Boldin should have been traded by now. If we want to throw the ball, Wells is a terrible pick as he needs to wear down a defense. I feel like we took the next best back on the board to fill a need and didn't consider the skill set that Wells brings.

Sorry, have to disagree - I think we were ELATED to see that this guy was still on the board and made the BPA! Gosh, how is everyone on this board not jumping up and down and smiling right now? We've got the two best receivers in football, two stellar quarterbacks and two tough, YOUNG running backs with managable contracts and a sick defense that we can spend the rest of the draft and offseason adding to in any way that we can!

I'm just going to put all of this down here so that I can look back on it a year from now: Beanie Wells will be an impact player in his rookie year, the Arizona Cardinals will be back in the playoffs as the champions of the NFC West, and God willing, the greatest team on the planet will bring home the Super Bowl trophy just over nine months from now! Seriously men, somebody go knock up their sweetheart and when the baby is born you can name him Victory, because that's we've got growing in the belly of Phoenix, Arizona! I can't wait for next season - this time we're taking it to the house!

LET'S GO CARDINALS!!!

I can't believe that Wells was available at #31. Makes me wonder if there is something going on that we don't know about.

It's too good to be true honestly...

Awesome pick.

:biglaugh:

Thats funny.

I don't see why people hate this pick. We've needed a feature RB forever and now we have a young one.

Like was pointed out by one of the analysts Wells will love running for us as he will not be the focal point of the offense and he will find more space to run than he did in college. OSU had a freshman QB last year and defenses stacked up to stop the run, yet he still was one of the best RBs in the nation.

Cant say thats the case. If it was it wouldnt have taken them 11 minutes to make the pick with a 10 minute time limit. They would have ran to the podium. They were mulling their decision obviously.

They were on the phone with him when the Titans were on the clock, I don't think it was much of a decision.

Mmm hmm sure they were. When a team knows that the guy they want is there to be had they dont take the full clock. Remember Leinart?

So the video of him smiling and shaking his head while he was on the phone with 5 minutes still on the clock with the Titans was special effects?

Our run of good drafts could end here. No way you want your first round pick to avoid contact...

Wrong. That was played up because of one clip when he ran out of bounds against Michigan. Looks like thats the exception rather then the rule. You tell me if this kid looks like he lacks physicality.....

Also this is amazing. It looks like Tressel kep him under wraps against bad teams and then unloaded him against all good competition. The only top team he didn't play well against in 3 years is this year PSU.

Remarkable numbers against the best teams in the biggest games. Including against LSU and Dorsey and Tyson Jackson. And of course the unstoppable Ali Highsmith:)

Those of you not on board should be pinching yourselves. PLayers like this with this kind of talent don't fall to that part of the first round unless they have major character issues.

Again I can't wait till TC

ESPN Nation poll has Wells as the 4th best value in the draft.
