Not a chance that Houston makes that deal. Asik demanded a trade, they knew they would lose him at the end of the season and yet, not a single offer enticed them. I'm sure they received far better offers than Miles.

Steve

It was very clear what Morey was asking. The Suns GM was too foolish to see how perfect Asik fit. The Suns could have had him easily (of course for more than just Plumlee.)

Asik does not fit our concept and just because he had one really good game yesterday you are overreacting. Last year he was not really better than Plumlee at all and is much older.
Except Asik played extremely well when he started for Houston too...

He was traded to the Pelicans for late lotto pick.

Miles Plumlee would have been perfect for the Rockets because he's a decen backup C who is young, athletic and on a long cheap rookie contract. He wouldn't interfere with the Rockets cap space for a long time.

I think they would have jumped at it if we offered Plumlee, Ennis (replacement PG for Lin), and maybe the TWolves first rd pick which we won't see anyways.

Why does every fan think they can trade their teams scraps for something of value?

To get value, you generally have give value.

Hmmmm.... so McDonough works his way through an NBA front office and earns the respect of his peers and the job of GM for an NBA team. He's nominated and is runner up for the NBA Executive of the Year Award in his first season in the position vs. some guy on the internet who's accomplishments include annoying nearly everyone around him and making himself sound like a narcissistic mommy's basement dwelling creep.

Yeah, I'll take McDonough's judgement on the issue every time. Had they had interest, they know what Houston asked for in return (you on the other hand do not) and deemed it too much. Stick to video games, you're not equipped for the real thing.

So McDonough is beyond question? Should we all hold hands and sing kumbaya.

Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize. One of the most warlike people I can think of. So much for awards.

It's pretty said that you can't even acknowledge the merits of my point. Asik was perfect and it was clear he was available. But in the end your post served it's purpose.

No. But to say that Asik isn't here because McDonough is foolish, is, well, foolish. There are a vast number of reasons why a particular transaction does not happen and I am supremely confident that GM foolishness is not the reason for this one.

Who said he wasn't beyond question? I only said when comparing his opinion to yours, his wins every time. What's sad is your belief that acting like a narcissistic jerk warrants acknowledgement. That any disagreement to your opinion must mean the other person a fool. I'm certain there is a load of information we have no access to and therefore, we have no way of knowing what deals are/were realistic. It's one thing to be critical of moves made (even though info is still lacking), but to be overtly critical of moves not made while making claims to know they could have been is just plain ridiculous.

Opening night. 26 points, 19 rebounds, 9 blocks. Man do I wish we had Anthony Davis in Phoenix. Backup wish. Please don't let him end up in Los Angeles.

Steve

He is going to be an All-Star again so he can take advantage of the Derrick Rose rule and get a bigger max now. So he would be dumb to leave

A Designated Player may be eligible to earn 30% of the salary cap (rather than the standard 25%) if he passes certain criteria. To be eligible, the player must be voted to start in two All-Star Games, or be named to an All-NBA Team twice (at any level), or be named MVP. Officially titled the "5th Year 30% Max Criteria" it has been dubbed (and is more commonly known as) the "Derrick Rose Rule" after the 2011 MVP, due to the fact that when the criterion was introduced, Rose was the only player in the NBA eligible to sign the maximum extension (due to his MVP award).

Yeah, he's likely to play his next contract there too but if he starts planning his TV/movie career, who knows. One thing is certain, we won't be seeing him in a Suns uniform anytime soon.

Hopefully Kobe is still holding on and making $340 million a year by then. :D

OK. So Durant and Westbrook are now both out injured, and this has exposed OKC's lack of depth at the guard position. They really need a quality young pg. So they come knocking with this offer.

Steven Adams for Ennis and Plumlee. They downgrade some potential at center, but they have a few quality bigs. They add depth at pg. Is this realistic? I guess not. They probably are valuing Adams much higher than that by now.

They have Reggie Jackson coming back. They don't need to panic. I personally wouldn't make that trade for the Suns. But, I'm not seeing what others are with Adams. If the Suns are going to make a trade, I'd rather get a quality PF.

Durant and Westbrook should both be back by mid December. How much does a trade for Ennis and Plumlee even help them? They're going to be pretty bad for a bit, I don't see them giving up Adams so they can be merely marginally less bad in the interim.

And really, I doubt they'd be any less bad with those 2. You're swapping Plumlee for Adams, which the way Adams is playing appears to be down grade even in the present, and Ennis would be a backup.

Kawhi Leonard will be a RFA next summer, perfect SF for the Suns especially in their small ball lineups.

Leonard is basically a more offensively skilled version of prime Shawn Marion.

I don't see the Thunder parting with Adams either as he appears part of their future.

In a van...down by the river.
Suns would have drafted someone like Waiters or Gilchrist over Davis anyway, had we had the #1 pick that year.

We were "set" with Frye and Gortat up front, and we're in the business of collecting guards and wings.

In the last 6 years we've drafted 2 centers, 1 PF, 2 SF, 1 SG, 2 PGs in the first round. Thats a pretty balanced sheet.

We also took Len in the top 5 when we still had Gortat and Frye on the roster.

Anthony Davis was special, everyone knew that. We would have taken him if we'd had the chance.

I thought the smiley face would reveal my intention for my post to be taken as a joke, but I guess it didn't. So, for the record, it was a joke, not a serious post.

Yeah, I'm a little weak on the smilies. For some reason I didn't think that was a happy smilie, more sardonic than pleasant. I see now that it's LMAO, so, my bad. And don't you just love that we live in a world where you can accidentally burn down a neighborhood while playing with gasoline and matches and as long as you say "my bad", everything is cool?
