CBus, while I didn't watch every play but Jake Mathews looked very good. The A&M defense is not very good, and the Bama OL is VG and I'll let the FO make the call, but would be happy with either.
Mathews did play well and he is very good. I just think Kouandjio is elite.CBus, while I didn't watch every play but Jake Mathews looked very good. The A&M defense is not very good, and the Bama OL is VG and I'll let the FO make the call, but would be happy with either.
You can get Sutton round 2 easy he's short as hell
PLEASE don't pull the "he's too short" card. When will people ever learn?
Not going to happen.
I've said before that, if Boyd was 6'3, he'd unquestionably be the consensus #1 pick.Give me Tajh Boyd. After watching him against Georgia and now tonight. He had a rough first half, but I thought he rebounded well. I remember reading somewhere that Michael Bidwill wanted Russell Wilson. Steve Keim is at the game tonight.
We need to groom a quarterback for the future. I am happy with Carson Palmer at the moment, but even if he has a good or great season I'd like to see them draft a quarterback.
This is a good year for drafting a QB. I haven't scouted many others yet other than what I've read.
There are some very good Tackles coming out as well. I won't be disappointed if we take one high insted of a QB. I just think we need to solidify that position the most.

However, if Arians likes big QB's, which he does, I can't see Keim forcing a guy like Boyd on him.
FWIW, Arians has been an assistant coach for a very long time with a bunch of franchises with powerful general managers. I (and I can't believe I'm saying this) trust Keim with personnel decisions more than I trust Arians.
You are right, this basically was the first year that Arians has had strong input on the draft. (Offensive Coordinators don't make player decisions for teams)
Arians,of course, will have input but IMO Keim is calling the shots.
I think when they refer to "mobile QBs" they are talking about guys like Kaepernick and Vick. Guys who aren't traditional pocket passers. Both Big Ben and Luck are traditional pocket passers who happen to have the athleticism to make plays with their feet when the pocket breaks down, but they don't exactly run a lot of designed running plays or anything. How can we say this with any certainty? I've heard people say the same thing about Arians not liking mobile QBs, despite having Ben Roethlisberger and Andrew Luck at his last two stops.
Keep an eye on QB Derek Carr. He's lighting it up for Fresno St. this year. I've been reading a bunch of positive reports on him.

yes he is.Is he the brother of the David Carr that came out of there? Seems like a long time ago already.
yes he is.
A guy no one is talking about is the QB Jeff Mathews from Cornell. He's had an impressive career, yes he's in the ivy league, but it seems scouts have taken a liking to him. He's a tall, strong, accurate pocket passer. Matches Bruce Arians idea of a QB. He is likely to be in the 1-3 round range which says a lot about a QB from Cornell.
