Fox To Bomb Super Bowl As Part Of New 24 Ad Campaign

MIAMI--As part of a new advertising campaign for its hit show, 24, the Fox network is planning to produce the ultimate Super Bowl commercial, which will feature an actual radiological bomb being detonated live at the Super Bowl. The detonation will take place at an undisclosed time and cause mass casualties, echoing a plotline on 24 which depicts a nuclear bomb being detonated in Los Angeles.

Following the explosion, viewers will be treated to an extended trailer for an “explosive” new episode of 24.

“Like the show itself, our new ad for 24 will depict the grim dangers we face today in a world of terrorism and weapons of mass destruction,” said producer Cyndi Incandenza. “We’ve never shied away from this kind of thing before, and now we’re just pushing the envelope even further. Will Jack Bauer stop the terrorists from blowing up the Super Bowl? No, of course not. He’s a fictional character. But he might stop them the following night during an action packed episode of 24 in which terrorists plot to attack the Super Bowl. Talk about life imitating art, huh? This show is ripped from the headlines.”

I really hate all the spoiler tags :(

I think we need to look into them...I really hate clicking on things to read what you guys say.

Spoiler tags may be irksome at times, but it's still the best protection against whiney cry babies and the "Why didn't you put spoiler in the title, jerk!" crowd.

But they are overused in this thread...but I just can't stop myself!

The use of spoiler tags is a legitimate issue, no need to degrade it by pigeonholing all those that like them as whiney cry babies.

Read my comment again...it appears you didn't get what I was saying...and no, I didn't edit it.

No really a thrilling episode tonight, but a good "set-up" episode.

Seems like a lot of them are that way. There's so much going on, that a 1 hour show seems to have not much progress as they have to touch on all the seperate "Mini Shows"

At this point there are 5 different plot-lines, 3 of which seem to be on the cusp of heading a different direction. Aside from the Major Plot-line (the terrorist attack), and I'm sure they feel that they have to "touch 'em all" so to speak.

It kind of has a soap opera-ish feel to it.

I think having a slower episode helps the "realism factor" of the show--it's exciting to have a major cliffhanger or event every single hour, but it's not very realistic.

True, if it was non-stop action every episode we would more than likely become desensitized to it...viewers need a breather as much as the characters do...

perhaps, but it's still better than 99.9% of other TV out there at the moment...

Heros, Lost, Grey's Anatomy, The Office....probably a few others are right up there with it. I would probably choose 24 to give up if I had to choose one from the list I just mentioned.

Chaplin - That is one of MY FAVORITE quotes of all time from you. We are fans of a show that centralizes around one man who has saved the US from major catastrophe not once, not twice, but FIVE times in the span of 5 days for each. This same guy has overcome a herion addiction, survived two nuclear blasts, won countless hand-to-hand death fights, and has witnessed his wife and many friends being murdered. My friend, about that 'realism factor'?

All the same, 24 is a great show (Day 6 not so much)....:grabs:
