I have no idea what that means.

Larry's brother calls himself the professor when he's tweeting about football/Larry related subjects. It's a wink, wink that he's in the know.

Though between him saying that and Larry just making a comment about Peyton on Twitter (which he hasn't done) I'm starting to get my hopes up again. Which I should not do.

Jurecki just said the same thing...

Jurecki also said that basically Manning's agent doesn't know jack. Basically saying that Manning's brother and father are handling his free agent visits and will know before Manning's agent. They said Manning's agent will come into play when the contract details need to be worked out and signed.

They expect Manning, his father or brother to let teams know when they are "out". He also confirmed that the Cards have not been told by anyone that they are out.

I dont get what the hell it matters whether Peyton and Eli have to play in the super bowl or in a playoff series before that.

It is not even likely they will meet anyway.

JeffDarlington: Call it leverage... hot air... whatever. But source close to Manning says Dolphins aren't out of it "at all" even if "trailing in the race." [via Twitter]

As of 7:30 pm ET, PM was still at the Titans facility and it's rumored he's waiting for a medical team to check him out.

Uncorroborated from NFLN.

This post could go in any one of the dozen Manning threads we have going, but I thought I'd put it here in the "official" thread. ;) It's not in response to any particular poster or post.

I read and sense a lot of angst directed AT Manning for dragging this out. Personally, I don't think that's really warranted. Manning wants to do what's best for him. How that's defined we can only guess (and guess we have!). But he's not trying to stick it to any particular organization--or fanbase. He's not using AZ as leverage, he's finding out where he fits best.

This is just to say I still think Manning is a class act. There's nothing in this process that stinks of anything but Manning is simply doing his due diligence.

This is no time and no place for logic, son.

I believe this boils down to "what is my easiest path to another Super Bowl ring" for PM. He only has 2-3 years left - if truly healthy - and his little brother has 2 SB rings. You have to believe what is really driving him is another championship. That being the case, what is his "easiest path"? Don't you guys think it's in the AFC? To me, both Denver and Tenn. increase his chances of making back to a SB. The NFC is the stronger conference right now - don't you agree? to go to the SB with the Cards he has to go through: the Packers, the Saints, the 49ers, Falcons, young Lions, and certainly not least, his own brother with the Giants... do you think Papa Manning wants one brother 'eliminating' the other in runs to the SB? It makes more sense for the 2 of them to be in opposite conferences...and at best meet each other in the SB...which the league and networks would LOVE.

The AFC is not as deep ... Patriots are getting old, the Steelers are getting old too and just cut half their team..are they about to go down for a couple of years? or least be "average". The Ravens are good, but they too seem to be "aging" on defense...The Texans do seem to be on the rise if Schaub can stay healthy.

Peyton has also said he "prefers" the AFC (for the above reasons?)

add it all up and I think it points to PM signing with an AFC team ... that's what I'm expecting to happen.

All due respect, I think that's complete BS.

I think he's looking for the team with which he can best take to the next level, competition be damned. Competitors like Manning don't look for the easy way.

ESPN bottom line had an update from Mortenson. Peyton hasn't ruled out any teams he's already talked to, and he could consider additional teams, as well. He also is willing to work out for any teams he considers serious finalists.

If Mort is right (which is a big if), this could drag on for a while longer.

Sounds like backtracking from earlier reports to me. Covering his butt as the decision looms.
