Bidding wars make me nervous...
never too soon to talk about basketball, but this year is different. a weird season.I thought you were talking about his hometown being in TN.
Don't talk about the Lakers to me, too soon.

as far as tennessee, know I know the mannings are from new orleans area. where is archie from, was that his hometown from birth too? I know he played there and went to ole'miss. good ol southern boys.
kenny chesney is probably writing peyton a love song as we speak.
Difference is, Titans would probably be willing to offer Manning a record max contract + the ability to hold a management position after he retires. Not many other teams would be willing/capable of doing that.An 89 year old owner promising a job 3, 4 years down the road. He can only pray that he can deliver on the promise. In other words: doubt that this has much bearing on his decision given that Irsay has also made a similar offer.
On one hand; I think Peyton has serious interest in the Cards, since it seems like we have almost everything he wants (Warm weather, dome, "easy" division, best WR, coaching familiarity)
On the other; I think Peyton visited with the Cards simply because he has a good relationship with Whiz, and just wanted to see if it was a possible fit, but not necessarily a team he considered a contender.
In the end, I don't see the Cards winning the bidding war that will ensue in the next couple days. The Titans owner seems like he's willing to do anything to acquire Manning, even offer him an executive position after he retires.
I think you are right. for peyton I think it comes down to everything. it's not all about money or one location or the other etc. it's the whole package. i think tennessee is where he will land ultimately because they will probably fit his needs the most. that's just speculation on my part.Look, if it's just about money we're out of it, it's that simple. Very simple. If it comes down to executive positions we're out of it, it's that simple (Manning can get those positions in Indy though, if he wants, I'm quite sure). Point is, if that's what it's about then we're done. If it's money, or positions, we're done, pure and simple.
Let's not try to spin this somehow that we can match money with teams, because we can't, and Manning knows that. If he wants max dollars, he's going to have to go somewhere else, and he knows that. There's no doubt about that and it's not up for debate; we can only give him what we can give him and it won't match other teams. If it comes down to jobs, we probably can't match that either. No doubt about that.
However, if it comes down to football, which I think Manning is all about, we can match that. And that's what we're betting everything on.
when do they have to make a choice on kolb? my guess is that if peyton doesn't get another call from a new team he will make his choice tomorrow. My feeling now is that we are going to have to decide whether we want to let go of Kolb and hang in there until manning finally makes up his mind. I don't there is any way this gets finished tomorrow.
My guess? We cut Kolb and roll the dice.

Friday at 4:00 PM, or thereabouts.
oh damn that's close, well hopefully for the cards sake he will announce his choice by then. i think we hear tomorrow unless a new team throws their hat in. then that will make things really dicey for the cardinals because peyton will probably give the next team a full day which the cardinals don't have.Friday at 4:00 PM, or thereabouts.
I am thinking the same thing. My guess? We cut Kolb and roll the dice.
I am thinking the same thing.
Too bad Kyle Orton signed as a backup today because he would be an option to sign to backup and challenge Skelton if we don't get PM.
And McCown is gone too!
Thank goodness. Don't want to temp the FO.And McCown is gone too!
I don't think Tennessee is as big a player as everyone thinks. First of all...Peyton and his group had to think of them instantly when he was cut, but they didn't. Tennessee didn't try to go after Peyton until like 4 days late. I think Peyton felt like he owed them a visit since he went to college there.
Denver is not as big an option now since FA WR's are all gone. Miami has no one there...that makes no sense.
I am shocked how 'experts' keep dissing us. We offer him the same thing we offered Warner in his last years. Play well, play like he is capable of...and we can go to the Super Bowl. I mean we have the talent. We have the direction. we have the DOme and he knows Whiz. Makes logical sense where he should go.
Damn I'm bitter. I've read every thread on the board probably twice already and nobody seems to know for sure where he's going......I thought someone here would know... you guys are slackers... c'mon man someone step up here!!!
Peyton will get $18-20+ mil a yr take that to the bank!!! No matter who coughs it up, in any form, he's getting that.
The "packaged deal" was all drummed up by media.dunno maybe the Colts told Wayne now or never. He did not want to sit on a hope knowing he may not get a deal closer to what the Colts offered him. Or say he moves to a team with PM, PM gets seriously injured and done. He may face being cut. It's safer for him with the Colts.
