Just don't see Denver, Tenn, or Miami as a better football decision than Arizona and from most polls, neither does the rest of the country. If he signs elsewhere, it would not be a football geared choice to me at all

If your goal is to win the Super Bowl then you are going to have to beat Pats, Pitt, Ravens or Houston and then either Saints, Packers or Giants. Coming out of the NFC you are faced with the same situation but in reverse. It is not likely that as a Division winner you will play both GB and N.O. The best shot to getting to SB is winning division and having a strong team. Denver has no receivers, and with Houston winning AFC South will be more challenging than NFC West (49ers are solid but could be 1 year wonders and not nearly as talented as Houston). Az gives Peyton the best oportunity to win a Division and have a team that can compete for SB.

I think it’s ironic that he thinks the AFC is the easier path considering he’s 8-9 lifetime in AFC playoff games w/ 4 of those wins coming against Jake Plummer and Trent Green, 7 of the 11 years he’s made the playoffs his Colts were one and done- losing to such great QB’s as Jay Fiedler, Chad Pennington, Bill Volek and March Sanchez, and he’s already lost playoff games to 3 of the QB’s other then Brady (1-2 vs Brady) listed on Gambo's post- Ben, Rivers and Sanchez.

So Gambo talked to someone who knows Peyton and that person speculated.

Yawn. Still waiting for real news. (Which we may not hear until the press is told to get the satellite trucks to location X.)

Exactly, just a few days ago Manning was going to sign with AZ unless "Bidwill screwed it up".

I am tiring of this situation quickly but I can't pull my eyes away from Twitter or ASFN for more than a few minutes for fear of missing the announcement. lol

FWIW, I do not expect AZ to be the choice but I am still dreaming.

it seems the AFC vs NFC thing on "ease of getting through" thing is far larger in perception than reality

on a single game elimination: is facing the (lets say) Steelers any easier than facing the Saints? How about the Patriots vs the Packers? How about the Texans vs Giants? How about Ravens vs 49ers?

I just dont see how a two game stretch of: Saints / Giants is really all that harder than Ravens / Patriots.

AFC vs. NFC?

Have you seen the scheduled for the Cards, Titans, and Denver? They all are pretty tough. Before he worries about facing tough teams in the playoffs, he needs to worry about getting to them.

I just dont see how the NFC is that much tougher.. The Giants are a bi polar team.. one year they are good, the next 2 or 3 they are mediocre.. I think the Saints arent gonna be as good anymore.. They just lost some players to Fa and are about to lose draft picks from Bounty Gate.. The Packers should be good for a few more years so ya.. One NFC team I can see being good for a period of time..

In the AFC there is the Steelers led by Rooney who are always in the discussion.. The Patriots with Brady.. The Ravens have a few more good years.. And the Jets are always teetering on something..

I dont get where the NFC has 3 dominate teams that would have to be gone thru to reach the SuperBowl..

There are a couple of dominant defenses, though. SF, NYG in particular.

In fact I can make a better arguement it is tougher to get to the SuperBowl from the AFC..

Since 2002 the Patriots have reached the SB 5 times, Steelers 3 times, Colts 2 times and Raiders 1 time.. So if you take out the Colts which Peyton played for, then only 3 teams (dominated by 2) have reached the SB in the past 11 years..

In the NFC on the flip side: AZ 1 time, Seattle 1, Giants 2, Tampa Bay 1, Packers 1, Saints 1, Panthers 1, Eagles 1, Bears 1 and Rams 1.. The NFC has not been dominated by a few teams as the AFC is..

If Peyton was to come to AZ, youd have to think we would be a team that can contend every year..

Last 5 SB winners
New York Giants, Green Bay Packers , New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers , New York Giants

And Steelers barely won. I would go for NFC
Personally, I don't think it makes a whole lot of difference, but the build up to you conclusion makes it seem like the AFC is the easier path to a championship.

Starting to hear rumors of a Cards press conference at 3 pm popping up on Twitter.

So far, Urban is saying he hasn't heard of one.

Who is saying this? Cuz I havent heard a peep about it on there

No one is saying it is gonna happen yet. They are just asking the typical Cards reporters (Jurecki, Urban) if they had heard anything about it.

Not sure where it originated to have someone actually ask about it.

If it were on Fox 10 you would think Jude La Cava would have tweeted about it by now.

Yeah, if they had called a "press conference", wouldn't the press be announcing that by now?

I am done trying to run down the source of this rumor. :bang: Carry on!:D

I think it's one guy trying out Twitter and doing it with a rumor. Three tweets so far. Back to work for me.

If there in fact is a presser, it could be:

1. To announce we're signing him.

2. To announce that we're out of the running.

3. To announce that we inked another offensive guard.

4. Or something completely different.
