The media and Shefter don't know a dang thing. Haven't you been watching. They've been grasping at every straw just to see how high you jump.
Remember - HE'S GOING TO MIAMI stories.....that was the rage. He was going to visit Miami and sign there...ugh he didn't even go there.
REMEMBER how they said Peyton would not visit AZ...but he did
REMEMBER how they said Peyton never threw...he tossed the ball to Fitz and Roberts
REMEMBER how fast they forgot about AZ visit
REMEMBER how they said Reggie Wayne and Peyton were a PACKAGE DEAL

How many stories are you going to fall for before you understand they don't know ****?

The ONLY people in the loop with this story are Peyton, his wife and his agent....and they aren't talking.

The more the media changes, the more we stay the same!

The one constant in the Manning search has been AZ. Denver came out of nowhere. Miami went from favorite to dog. Tennessee wasn't ever much of a consideration until he signed up for a visit. SEA, WASH, NYJ, and HOU all came and went as potential suitors. And yet, the Cardinals quietly continue to stay firmly atop the list of potential landing spots while all this chaos continues to swirl around them. (Media-generated chaos, I might add)

Everyone knows it's going to take +-$20 million-per-season to sign Manning. Peyton's made so much cash in his career that I really doubt money is going to be the deciding factor.

Potential to win will be.

You are correct. Because all teams are going to give Manning whatever his agent wants. I'm sure structure can be negotiated some, but total of the contract and gauranteed money won't be.

Could you imagine being a GM/ownership trying to explain to their fanbase, "Well, 15 mil a year was what we could do, his camp wanted 20 mil a year, so it didn't work out." ?

I think the chances of Manning singing here are better than what the world would have us believe, but at the end of the day, there are too many factors for each team to make me feel confident one way or the other. It's driving me insane.

I've been talking and reading some much about PM that I had dreams about it last night. I need to pull the plug a little and back away.

Denver reported that their average game temp is 60 degrees and in december the mid 40's. That's not good for sore bones or stiff necks.

Yeah, but they tried to spin it as not a big deal. Honestly, journalistic integrity must mean nothing anymore.

I wonder how big of a factor this will be. Too me, I've never seen Denver as the viable option everyone else makes them out to be. I see the positives I suppose, but to me, they don't make as much sense as AZ, or even the Dolphins a week or so ago.

Hope for Manning

I got to thinking about everything we have seen with Manning and I've just about convinced myself that despite media reports, Arizona is Manning's top choice. I think Miami and Tennessee are out. There is a reason Manning didn't visit them. It is Arizona or Denver unless we screw it up.

Think about this, WHY is Petting waiting? It isn't like he won't get paid from either team, so what is the motivation for NOT deciding quickly? One answer is obviously clear but no one in the media is talking about it. If Denver were his TOP choice this would all he over right now. Why? Because they have so much cap room, they could sign Manning and whomever he wants RIGHT now. Yet, that has not happened. Manning is waiting on the Cardinals to clear cap space and make upgrades (I think we are hot and heavy working on a new contract for Calais and restructuring others) and is giving them until Thursday/Friday to do so. Add to that Wayne and Garcon are out and I'm even more confident he is a Cardinal.

It is looking like Gambo was right in his reporting.

Keep the faith and ignore the talking heads who turn a blind eye to logic.

Manning is waiting because he isn't sure where he is going yet. Simple as that.

So far. I one factor I can't get out of my mind is that his "source" apparently reached out to him. Gambo was at his daughter's game in Utah and was not actively trying to run down scoops. It fell in his lap. He is a windbag, but considering he wasn't "on the job" when he got the info, I think there might be something to it.

I have a hard time wrapping my brain around the idea that any top notch source would text GAMBO, out of the blue, with the biggest NFL news nugget in many, many years.

Don't Tebow and Manning have the same agent? He won't want to displace one client at the beginning of his career with one at the end of his. Right? Riiiiiight???

Nah, cause it leads to Tebow being moved to Jax, where he would be king. :)

Maybe he's waiting to announce until the contract is signed. For all we know his agent and the Cardinals could be talking numbers at this moment.

Remember, that's what happened with Fitz. No one knew what was going on until after it was all done. I think they called the press in late on a Saturday to announce that it was all signed.

I think Cards and Manning could handle this the same way if he signs here.

Contract is signed in the office, then Peyton and Michael and Maybe Mr. B come out and smile for the camera and answer a few questions. I'm not expecting a BIG thing if it's Cardinals.

I am telling you.. the Manning Sweepstake is JUST LIKE THE GOP!

Arizona is Mitt Romney, the only constant, every time anyone talks the consensus is the Cardinals are the best fit, they have gotten the MAJORITY of the major endorsements, yet just can't pull away

Denver is Santorum. No one in their right mind understands why and how this option is getting more and more momentum. It seems inferior in may ways, and so many red flags, yet like we are living in the twilight zone, they remain in the race and some feel a front runner.

Miami- Newt. Was a front runner, burned hot at first, and then fizzled quick as soon as people actually starting looking into it deeper. Does not have a legit chance at getting Manning, yet refuses to bow out, will continue until the end, while everyone but him knows how this one will turn out.

Tennessee- is Ron Paul. Perhaps the sentimental pick, a guy many believe would make some sense, but ultimately have no real substance and no real shot at winning either, is there more for show than anything at this point..

Tell me I am wrong!

I feel like Arizona may be Ron Paul. Even though we are in the race, no one wants to acknowledge us.

I wonder if it is worth mentioning that Dallas Clark hasn't popped up associated with any team. Is he the real part of a package deal? Or is he just taking his time and waiting on Peyton. It's strange that we haven't even heard of teams having interest in him or reaching out to him.

Cardinals can't be Romney. We have least salary cap space of any of the contenders. ;)

Tousche, good point...

But to be fair, they have more than enough to sign Manning (win the election), just not much do other things (invest in stocks :p)

Here is my take on manning from an unbiased opinion, but since I'm a cowboys fan most of you probably could care less what I have to say.

I think AZ would be right at the top of my list if I were manning because of the overall situation(Especially fitzgerald) and the weak division.

However, manning has expressed a strong desire to play in the AFC. Tennessee has a lot to bring to the table. They are much closer to Indy and they are in the same division that he has played in for years. So for peyton(barring houston throwing their name in the hat which they won't)...tennessee is probably his best fit. He knows the division and the division is probably the AFC version of the NFC west when you look at it. AZ and Tenn are very much alike as far as record goes(last year). and houston is like SF, jags, and colts both suck(like rams and seattle). not to mention the ability for peyton to play in Indy ever year. I honestly get the sense he will play in tennessee if the titans want him bad enough.

More face-to-face exposure w/ Bud Adams, the better. Someone e-mail Peyton this video, quick!

true...but that is a fan's perspective. The fact that an owner of a team that probably looks pretty enticing for peyton is flying to indy to meet him, that would have me feeling pretty good if I were a titans fan.

Perhaps, but Adams is the antithesis of class. IMO, he's handled this situation (amongst other QB situations) rather unprofessionally. He's essentially forcing Peyton on the coaching staff (not necessarily a bad thing), but the coaches feel confident with their current crop of QBs.

Sound familiar? He did the same thing with Vince Young and Jeff Fisher. Fisher thought Collins was the best fit for the team.
