I think this a great picture.

Someone had it as a avatar on NFLdraftblitz. So I stole it.

Section 11 has a great avatar from that Pic. I think we should all change our avatars to the one Sec11 has in rememberance.

(I hope you don't mind 11)

Woke up to the phone ringing at 7 am this morning. I knew who it was. It was my dad. The last time I had a call from him at 7 am was Sept 11 2001. I immediately knew something bad had happened. I've been in tears all morning...didn't go to school...don't know how I'm gonna make it through work today.

Pat will definitely be missed. I remember reading stories about how he'd climb the lightpoles at Sun Devil. I remember him riding his bike to practice before he made the team. I remember his hard play, his hard hits, his no BS interviews. I remember the time he waved to my dad from his suburban.

Now it appears those memories are all we have left. Rest in peace Pat, you're in my prayers and will be sorely missed.

Like Jeff and many others, I'm crying.

Two thoughts struck me initially:

First the lines from the Billy Joel song.....only the good die young!!!!

and then the Teddy Roosevelt quote:
"Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory, nor defeat." -– Theodore Roosevelt

Thank you Pat Tillman !!!!!!!

My condolences.

To all Cardinal fans, my sincerest condolences for your loss. America lost a bright and shining star today, I hope all Americans learn of this man's life and accomplishments and what he gave up to serve his country. In a long line of American hero's, Paul Reverre, George Washington, Joshua Chamberlain, Alvin York, and Audie Murphy, the name Patrick Tillman will always be listed among them.

"Man in the Arena." One of my favorites. I thought of it, too.

What?
I'm stunned. Thank You Pat for all you've done. Your demeanor and selflessness will be remembered forever.

This sucks.

I have a picture a Pat holding my 3 month old son at training camp 2000

Wow, what a shocker. Kind of puts into perspective this whole draft stuff. Pat Tillman is a hero and someone that I really could relate to. God Bless him and his family in this time of sorrow. I had the great opportunity to talk with Pat a number of times at training camps throughout the years. I have a picture of him, my brother, my sister in law and my wife on my wall at work from that great 1998 New Orleans/Cards game in late December of 1998. I also have a great photo of him holding my 3 month old son at the 2000 training camp.

God Bless you Pat Tillman. You will be missed.

Pretty much anyone who knows me on this board knows that I'm a huge Packer fan and I really dislike the Cardinals. However, Tilly was one of my favorite players in the league - dude was a throwback - a very blue-collar type of player. He'd roll up his sleeves, take his knocks, get back up and keep coming at you. If any team had 52 Pat Tillmans on their roster they'd be champions year in and year out.

Being ex-military I take great pride in anyone willing to sacrifice their civilian life to serve their country and Pat - along with many others - has paid the ultimate sacrifice - by fighting for my freedom when he doesn't even know who I am. A soldier laid his life on the line for me and doesn't even know I exist - what more can I say but thanks. I'm grateful and humble to know that there are American Heros like you willing to lay down your life for this great country of ours.

Good Bless the Tillman family - my thoughts and prayes are with them.

Light headed and crying,
Shawn

One of the secretaries at my office, who doesn't even really follow football, is crying at her desk today. Pat Tillman's reach far exceeded his accomplishments on the field.

The difference between Pat Tillman and every other athlete is the difference between a real hero and a cultural idol. There have been many Pat Tillman's in this country since 9/11/01. There is that husband, father and teacher from Tolleson who enlisted to protect and serve his country. There have been many heros since 9/11/01 ... Pat tillman being one of them.

May you rest in peace, Mr. Tillman and may your family also find peace.
