    Reality Check

Sure there have been some missteps along the way. But is anyone ready to argue there is less talent on this team than there was 4 years ago? With this team its hard to tell who is responsible for that but if they say its mostly Graves than he deserves another couple of years.

    Why the fuss? Good plan

After seeing what Buddy Ryan and Green did with bringing in some of their cronies it seems reasonable they are not letting the new HC pick his assistants without "input" from Graves or someone. Hopefully Graves input will be something like "prove to me your replacement choice has more and...

    Cards brace for future

Could be the alcohol talking, but I'd bet a large amount of cash that Graves has not had "FINAL" say in anything so far. The Cardinal's floundering stretches back to long before Graves started. To suddenly single out a GM for the strange decisions of the Cards front office just doesn't seem fair...

    Can we play cover 2 with A.Wilson @ S?

It worked great against the Niners because they have had so many injuries on their OL that it was easy to get pressure with just a 4-man rush. If the Cards had not been able to get pressure against that OL it would have been embarassing.

    Big coming or going?

Didn't Big get paid some huge amount this year? Was it high enough that the Cards would have to pay him 120% this year instead of the average of the top 5?

    2006 Cardinals: Game 15 (ARI 26 SF 20) Analysis

I agree with you. I watched most of a Colts game a week or two ago. Cato looked plenty fast and got himself into position to make plays but his tackling was horrible. He was too high on the RBs on just about every tackle. They ended up running through his tackles or over him most of the time...

    I've finally decided

Maybe that's because if they did good in the last year of an existing contract they got a new/extended contract so they did not end up being "lame duck" coaches. If they did bad they got let go at the end of the contract.

(The Sad) Reality is losing to Denver was a very good thing for 2007!

We have seen how much having high draft picks, weak schedules, and new coaching staffs have helped the Cardinals in the past. I don't think there is really any way we can call the latest loss a "very good thing" at all. Besides if the front office pays half as much attention to football as the...

    Are we signing Doug Gabriel?

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2696845 So the Raiders got a free 5th round pick from the Pats. In a related news report several Raiders fans were seen laughing for the first time this season.

    How bad are we really?

Its not the losses to KC and Chicago that bother me about Green. Those were close, hard-fought games that went down to the wire against teams no one expected the Cards to even have a chance against. The part that I think should cost Green his job is it looks like he let the team get rattled by...

    We are so fickle....

Fickle is last week everyone being pretty sure we were probably not going to win another game this year and draft in top 2 or 3. Then this week, after beating a collapsing Rams team, all talking of possibly winning out the rest of the season.

Edge: "No, let Shipp go in"

I agree. Chances are with Edge out the defense drops back to take away Fitz and Boldin. That leaves a better opening for the running game. Of course earlier in the year it may not have mattered because other teams defenses could stuff the run with only 6 or 7 men in the box.

Are Cardinals clever or simply cheap?

This is the most likely scenario. The cap structure is set up for not only if the players don't pan out but also if the coach does not. Whoever is coach next year is going to have a lot of flexibility on what to do with players. At 1-8 the players are now just playing to keep their jobs next year.

Fire Someone For Deciding Not to Block Urlacher

I've been wondering about the play design on running plays for weeks. It seems every time James runs the ball ALL of the other teams linebackers are piled up in front of him with no one blocking them. Do the Cards blocking schemes even take into account linebackers? 5 OL apparently try to take...

There's an Old Addage in the NFL

There's some addage about offensive linemen being paid to block defensive linemen too. But that's just crazy talk. The Cards have taught Ross the brand new NFL tactic of making it the QB's job to stop the DE.

Look, I now hate Neil Rackers

Rackers is obviously struggling. How does Green come to the decision to suddenly switch to running plays for 2nd and 3rd down, then settle for a 40-yd field goal attempt?

Who said Green needed to call out OL?

I think he stopped just sort of calling them "The Big Red Sea". Here's the quote from an article in the East Valley Tribune this morning... ------------ Later Monday on his self-titled radio show on ESPN (860 AM), Green delivered a much harsher assessment of an offensive line that has not...

    Interesting take on stadium name

Riiiiiighhhhht. NCAA is worried about losing football players and fans to UoP? What are they going to do? Refuse to let their players be drafted into the NFL until the Cards find a new stadium sponser? This article must set some record for lamest attempt to write "Cardinals suck and always will...

I had a friend email me this last night...

Stopped paying attention after this part. Bidwill is too cheap to spend to the salary cap AND over spends on FA's... trying to follow that twist of logic.... maybe a few more beers would help.

It's hard to be rational right now, but Warner's gotta go.

Gotta agree with all you said. If it were any QB besides Warner and his personal reputation I'd be asking if he owed the mob a big debt or something. Its the closest I've ever seen anyone come to looking like they were trying to lose a game.

The Loser vs the Champion mentality

Champions don't panic at every set back either. Just because some people don't think its time to tear apart the team or the coaching staff 2 games in the season and start over does not mean they are happy about the game. There were some bright spots and there were several bad things in the...
